Yes, the American Cheese Society is a real thing, and yes, we’re super happy to be a part of it! ACS is a 2,100+ member organization that appreciates, supports, and promotes artisan, farmstead, and specialty cheeses produced in the Americas. We use a lot of those!
The org also provides the cheese community with educational resources and networking opportunities and encourages safe and sustainable cheesemaking. Members include cheesemakers, retailers/distributors, specialty food producers, chefs, and more—pretty much anyone who’s eager to learn more about cheese and support the cheese community!
Additionally, the American Cheese Society website is a great resource for everyday diehard cheese enthusiasts and aspiring cheese professionals as well. Learn how to classify different cheeses (typically based on texture, milk type, and place of origin), accurately evaluate and socialize with cheese with the Lexicon & Glossary, and get started with cheesemaking on your own.
You, too, can be a member of the American Cheese Society. If you like cheese as much as we do, it’s a no-brainer to join. Learn more about membership at cheesesociety.org/membership.
Stay kind,
